Within a few minutes, numerous calls from the Braunau district were received by the Upper Austria provincial warning center and gave a first impression of the approaching storm front. In order to be able to handle the large number of emergency calls, the state warning center was immediately increased with additional staff. At 1 a.m., around 80 fire brigades were already on duty. The enormous force of the wind was shown, among other things, by vehicles being blown over.
