In 2014, Nina Hoss and Philip Seymour Hoffman starred in A Most Wanted Man. For her, a “life-changing” encounter.

Actress Nina Hoss (47) speaks intensively for the first time about her former collaboration with the late actor Philip Seymour Hoffman (1967-2014) in the latest podcast episode “Time for Walking” (originally “Time for Walking”) for Apple Fitness+. . Working on their joint film “A Most Wanted Man” in 2014 was one of the greatest moments in their lives, Hoss explains in detail.

She always admired and adored the Oscar winner, saying he was “brilliant” and “phenomenal.” Working together was life-changing, enriching and also broadened her horizons. Hoffmann’s drug addiction was well known even then, and according to Hoss, his vulnerability was obvious. Nevertheless, he never lost his sense of humor on set, always pushed his limits at work and always showed a “warm heart”.

Nina Hoss copied this peculiarity from Philip Seymour Hoffman

She copied a characteristic of Hoffman for her career: “He went to the monitor after every scene and had the shoot played to him.” When he came back, Hoffman then made small changes to his game. That’s how he continuously improved. To this day she would use this technique herself – not in every scene, but occasionally. If a director didn’t allow her to do that, she would say, “Philip Seymour Hoffman did it too, so resign.”

Hoffmann was found dead in his New York apartment in 2014. He had a cocktail of various drugs in his blood and, according to prosecutors, died of an accidental overdose. Born in Stuttgart, Hoss had a remarkable career. Thanks to engagements in productions such as “A Most Wanted Man”, “Homeland”, “Tár” or “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan” she also became a celebrated actress outside of Germany.

This is Time to Go from Apple Fitness+

Superstars like Prince William (40), Jane Fonda (85), Naomi Campbell (52) and Shawn Mendes (24) have walked for Apple. On February 13th, the tech company from Cupertino released the first episode of the series with a German star.

The idea behind “Time for Walking”: The Apple Fitness+ subscriber strolls around with headphones while listening to a star who is also on a walk and talks about his life.
