The Joy-Con of your Nintendo Switch derail? If they are still under warranty, simply return them to the manufacturer’s after-sales service for repair. Here we explain the procedure to follow.
The Nintendo Switch has had a problem with the controllers since its release. This “Joy-Con Drift” is a problem with the analog stick. This sends data to the console while the player does not even touch the controller. In effect, this means that your character can move on the screen or the cursor move in the menus without you doing anything. On top of that, this drift interferes with playability and can even make a title completely unplayable. It should be noted, however, that this is not specific to the Nintendo controller, since that of the PS5 can encounter the same problem.
After numerous complaints and threats from the UFC that they should choose to sue, Nintendo has reviewed its policy and has been offering to repair your controller for free for a while (provided your machine is under warranty). To do this, nothing could be simpler, just go to the manufacturer’s website and to follow the procedure step by step.
Note that the concern for Joy-Con drift is less widespread on the latest models of the console, even if many players still notice errors.
Nintendo Switch: here is the procedure to follow for the repair
We will walk you through the process step by step. Please note, you must have kept proof of purchase and still be within the 24-month warranty period to benefit from a free repair. If you do not enter this box, Nintendo can still repair your Joy-Con, but will give you an estimate which you can accept or not before proceeding. Attention, this service only concerns the inhabitants of Metropolitan France.
- 2. In the new list, go to “Joy-Con controller sticks not responding properly or not working”
- 3. A new page will then appear, listing the known solutions for the problem in question. If no proposal works (there is a good chance if you are a victim of drift) you have to click on “No, I want to create a repair request” displayed in red at the bottom of the page.
- 4. A pop-up page appears telling you that you are changing sites. You have to click on Continue.
- 5. You then arrive on the Nintendo’s official SAV page. It is obviously necessary to take great care to read all the conditions of repair before clicking on “Access the form at the bottom of the page”.
- 6. Then all you need to do is to fill out the forme with your postal data and above all describe your concern in detail.
- 7. After analysis, Nintendo will send you an email with a return slip.
- 8. You will then need to pack your Joy-Con (or Switch if required) carefully.
