Nintendo wraps up its indie celebration with a few more announcements including the surprise release of Sports Story

To end the year on a high note and remind us that even though a lot of AAA will be under the tree this year, independent games still have a big place in the industry, nintendo wanted to highlight several games during miniature showcases. Yesterday, Afterimage and Melatonin were in the spotlight, and we were waiting to find out if the manufacturer was going to have a nice surprise in store for us for the last show. This was the case with an unexpected release, or almost.

Sports Story is finally here

We really wondered where had gone Sports Story. The game was scheduled for this month of December but no date on the horizon. Nintendo was actually reserving this announcement to close its independent games advent calendar, since we learned that Sports Story was available, there, now, on the eShop.

Sea of Stars was also present via its composer Yasunori Matsuda. The famous artist explained to us why he had joined the project, reminding us that the title was still planned for the year 2023.

Among the other announcements of this last issue, we note that the roguelite shooter Dust & Neon will also release on Switch in addition to PC early next year. The post-apocalyptic adventure game Undying will be released on Switch in the spring of 2023.
