Individual victims of flooding in Pas-de-Calais in recent days, and who had already been affected during a previous episode in November, will not have to pay the insurance excess a second time, said Sunday the Minister of the Economy Bruno Le Maire.
Questioned on France 3, the minister hoped that none of the inhabitants of Pas-de-Calais or the areas which were flooded would pay twice this deductible.
The commitment was made by the insurers, I verified this this week. I know that insurers will keep their commitment, he said.
The excess applicable in the event of a natural disaster is a maximum of 380 euros, according to Bercy.
At this stage, 98% of the insurance assessments for the damage caused by the November floods have been carried out and 50% of the November victims have been compensated, he indicated.
Faced with the increase in climatic events, Mr. Le Maire also said he was in favor of an increase, in 2025, in the insurance premium for natural disasters.
We must anticipate in order to be able to compensate in the best conditions. This increase will be of the order of 16 euros maximum per year and will protect all those who are victims of these floods and these climatic phenomena, he said.
