Nokia: selected by Rock Connect in Jamaica


(CercleFinance.com) – Nokia announces that it has been selected by Rock Connect as the sole supplier to deploy a 4G-LTE fixed wireless access network ready for 5G in Jamaica, a project which aims to cover 95% of the population of Jamaica. island by 2025.

‘The new network will provide broadband services to regions where fiber connectivity is not currently available, thus contributing to the reduction of the digital divide’, explains the Finnish telecom equipment manufacturer.

In addition, Nokia says it has achieved, together with China Mobile and MediaTek, a new standalone 5G speed record using Carrier Aggregation technology in Shanghai. The test achieved a new record of approximately 3 Gbps in maximum user downlink throughput.
