What is this smartphone with flashing LEDs?

The Nothing Phone (1) looks like a classic smartphone, apart from its transparent back with visible LEDs. An original design proposal, which is not very useful, but has the merit of taking the smartphone off the beaten track. The LEDs light up according to use, and are able to flash in time with the sounds and notifications received by your smartphone. Apart from looking pretty, this system, called Glyph, can also indicate the battery charge level, or even flash to indicate the passage into silent mode.

The smartphone is otherwise classic, with rounded edges and thin bezels around the display. Its dimensions of 159.2 × 75.8 × 8.3 mm and its weight of 193.5 g give it a good grip. The ergonomics are pleasant and the finishes are excellent, especially for this price range. The Phone (1) has a 6.55-inch OLED display with good brightness. Is the Nothing Phone (1) a good deal for sales?

The Nothing Phone (1) is a very good smartphone for its price, and a good deal on sale. You can check out our guide to the best smartphones in 2023 to get an idea of what it offers compared to the competition. The manufacturer Nothing will unveil its second smartphone model on July 11. The Nothing Phone (2) should make more use of its LEDs, this time more numerous, and offer better performance, especially on the photo module.

However, the NothingPhone (1) remains a quality device for its price, thanks to its Snapdragon 778G+ chip. The mid-range processor, coupled with 8 GB of RAM, is 5G compatible. The performances are correct, but some display bugs are to be deplored. The fluidity of the smartphone is not exemplary either. On the other hand, the refresh rate of 120 Hz will be able to run video games without too many problems, if you do not push the graphics to the maximum. Note that the smartphone runs on Android.

In terms of photography, the Nothing Phone (1) is doing well with its two Sony 50 Mpix and Samsung ultra-wide-angle 50 Mpix sensors. A few defects in sharpness and a sharpness slightly behind at night are to be deplored, but it’s a good photophone overall. Finally, on the autonomy side, the Phone battery (1) will last you a little more than a whole day.
