The day after the broadcast of the last episode of “Obi-Wan Kenobi”, many fans are hoping for a second season of the Star Wars series.
Presented from its origins as a limited-time mini-series, Obi-Wan Kenobi unveiled its sixth – and therefore ultimate – episode this Wednesday, June 22. However, even if the story of the Jedi Knight, who came out of his exile on Tatooine to help Princess Leia, was told to its end, the hope that a second season could still see the light of day persists with of the most hardcore fans.
Among the biggest audience successes of the Disney + platform, the Star Wars series has also been able to count on the unwavering support of its main performers, Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen (Anakin Skywalker). Both have indeed publicly expressed their desire to appear again in their respective roles, both in a second season of Kenobi and in any other Star Wars production.
While Ewan McGregor expressed his hope that this series will not mark his very last appearance as Kenobi, Hayden Christensen, meanwhile, felt that there were still stories to be told (ten years separate the end of the mini-series from the beginning of the film A New Hope). Suffice to say that the support of its two main actors gives additional credit to a possible renewal of the series.
The president of Lucasfilm, Ltd. Kathleen Kennedy also spoke on the subject, also opening the door to a potential season 2: “We designed Obi-Wan Kenobi as a mini-series, but I think if there’s a huge following for the program and audiences want to see more episodes of Obi-Wan, then we’ll take that on board. consideration because we listen to the fans” (via ET Online).
For the moment nothing seems to have been decided, but the planets nevertheless seem aligned so that a second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi can still see the light of day. Unless of course it is decided to offer Darth Vader his own series? Something tells us in any case that it was most certainly not the very last appearance of the Dark Lord and Kenobi in a Star Wars production…
