On the occasion of the Tokyo Game Show, Square Enix had the opportunity to show the gameplay of several of its upcoming titles, in particular for Octopath Traveler II. Scheduled for February 24, 2023, the long-awaited title is therefore discovered in a long video segment of more than 50 minutes. The part concerning the gameplay starting from about 25 minutes of video.
From the first seconds, you can admire the 2D-HD graphics so dear to the series Octopath Traveler. We will appreciate in passing the very beautiful games of shadow and light during the walking sessions in the village.
If Octopath Traveler II takes up many of the game mechanics of the first opus of the license, it does however bring its share of novelty in its gameplay. Here, there are eight narrative stories that we can follow and see intertwine. The snippet featured in the video leans more into warrior Hikari.
The day/night cycle is also presented in these first images of the game. We note that if the visual atmosphere is modified at nightfall, so are the perceived sounds. The interactions available to players will also vary depending on whether it is day or night, which should create more opportunities for exploration. Exploration that presents us here with a world of Solista, in full technological and industrial development, where we will meet various cultures that coexist.
