Around the turn of the millennium, “The Wild Seventies” became a cult sitcom. Now the streaming service Netflix is ​​producing a spin-off, as reported by “The Hollywood Reporter”. This time the plot is set in the 90s and promises a reunion with at least two well-known characters.

For “That ’90s Show”, as the new series is to be called based on the original English title of its predecessor (“That’ 70s Show”), the old show inventors Bonnie (81) and Terry Turner (73) draw again responsible. Two of the old stars of the series, Kurtwood Smith (78) and Debra Jo Rupp (70), could be engaged as actors. You slip back into the roles of parents of Eric Forman, Red and Kitty Forman. It is not yet clear whether Eric actor Topher Grace (43) and other stars from the original sitcom will be seen in guest roles.

At the center of the spin-off’s plot is Leia Forman, the daughter of Eric Forman and Donna Pinciotti, played by Laura Prepon (41). In the summer of 1995, Leia visited her grandparents Red and Kitty in the tranquil town of Point Place (US state Wisconsin) and unexpectedly made new friends there. “Sex, drugs and rock ‘n roll never die, only the clothes change,” a series description continued.

“The Wild Seventies” flickered on the screens for the first time in 1998 and ran until 2006 in eight seasons. The sitcom outlines the growing up of a group of teenagers in the rural USA and starred alongside Topher Grace and Laura Prepon as well as Wilmer Valderrama (41), Danny Masterson (45), Ashton Kutcher (43) and Mila Kunis (38). Kutcher and Kunis are now married and have two children together.

Netflix has initially ordered ten episodes of “That ’90s Show”. It is still unclear when they will premiere on the streaming service.
