Officially opened – New Storm VIP: Between lighthouse and memorial

On the day of the Styrian Bundesliga duel with TSV Hartberg, SK Sturm opened the new Longin club between the Merkur Arena and the ice rink. In front of guests of honor, several club legends – and with clear messages to Graz politics.

The new hospitality not only offers Sturm fans – the VIP club is located on the upper floor, including the SportsBar Eggenberg – a fine new place to stay in the immediate vicinity of the stadium. The glass structure, which was built at Sturm’s expense and can be rented, will also be used for other clubs, private celebrations or events in the future. There is space for up to 500 people. On Saturday everything was of course in black and white. In front of several representatives of state politics, many Sturm club legends such as Otto Konrad, Günther Paulitsch, Andy Pichler and Hannes Reinmayr as well as former ski stars Nici Schmidhofer and Reini Herbst, managing director Tom Tebbich and president Christian Jauk were beaming from ear to ear. “I am overwhelmed by the feedback,” said Jauk, who of course took the opportunity to point out the expansion of the sports conference center (VIP club in the stadium) decided by Graz city politicians in 2017 and not yet implemented. “We have received a letter that we can perhaps expect the VIP club in the stadium to be ready by 2026. Now even our East Styrian friends from Hartberg have a larger VIP area than we do at Sturm. “That’s why we took matters into our own hands and built this hospitality,” said Jauk, who added: “For me, this is a lighthouse project – but also a memorial.”
