Offworld Industries (Squad) Announces Co-op FPS Starship Troopers: Extermination

In partnership with Sony Pictures Consumer Products, the successful Canadian studio for tactical FPS squadremains in the team-based first-person shooter, but based on the universe of the satirical film directed by Paul Verhoeven in 1997, film itself freely adapted from the novel Stars, beware! published by Robert A. Heinlein in 1959.

Playable up to 12 in cooperation, Starship Troopers: Extermination will send us to the front lines to serve as cannon fodder against the Arachnid threat. Belonging to the special forces unit Deep Space Vanguardplayers will form teams of 4 and attempt to work together to complete objectives, acquire resources, defend their base of operations, and ultimately escape from planet Valaka without losing team members and team members at all .

At launch, battles will take place on a large map made up of five unique areas and will feature a spectacle of hundreds of swarming insects on the screen that should delight fans of EDF games. Communication will of course be essential, hence the presence of an Apex Legends-style “ping” system offering players a quick and easy way to notify their teammates of points of interest, objectives or approaching enemies.

The teams will try to balance the three roles offered (Assault, Support, Defense) knowing that the progression system based on the classes will unlock weapons, equipment and assets. When it launches in Early Access, which will take place on Steam sometime in 2023, soldiers will be faced with five types of killer bugs. Increasing the threat level of insects during missions will also spawn larger and more dangerous enemies to fight.

According to Offworld Industries, the early access of Starship Troopers: Extermination should last at least a year. The full version will take place on several worlds and will of course offer more content (weapons, enemies, class progression, community events, customization options).
