Bad news for Apple fans: MacBook Pros with OLED screens aren’t expected to arrive until 2027. This delay is the result of several factors hampering the Apple brand’s production capabilities.

Patience. A virtue that fans of Apple’s super laptops will have to demonstrate to see OLED technology arrive on their MacBook Pro. According to several reports from different sources, these models are scheduled for release in 2027. The iPad Pro will benefit from this screen technology probably next year.

OLED screens on the loose at Apple

Fans will certainly be disappointed with the delay, but it turns out that the reasons for the delay are not immediately recoverable. First, an overall drop in production capacity for OLED screens for laptops prompted Apple to make this decision. The company would wait until its supply chains are able to supply enough screens designed specifically for laptops. According to estimates, this production capacity should be reached in 2026, which partly explains the postponement of the release to the following year.

Second reason, MacBook Pros are less popular. Between October 2022 and March 2023, the American company must face a 30% drop in sales of these models. This sudden drop in consumption has forced Apple to revise its business strategy and therefore to postpone the release of its new OLED models.

For the iPad Pro, nothing moves

Despite this delay, the iPad Pro should be equipped with an OLED panel from 2024. From the first quarter, the 11 and 12.9 inch models will be mass produced. These two models will be the first to benefit from this display technology. If all goes well, users will therefore be able to take advantage of these tablets from next year.

The advantages of OLED technology over traditional LCD are now well known. Increased brightness, more vivid colors and deeper blacks, which does not prevent much more efficient energy consumption. The result ? Your eyes are won over and the battery extends its life.

More than three years of waiting for MacBook Pros to be equipped with OLED displays. The pill will be hard for some to swallow as Apple returns to normal production. In the meantime, enthusiasts will still be able to fall back on the iPad Pro in a few months. Patience, patience…
