Olympic Games 2022: the medals obtained by the French delegation



Lhe Summer Olympics seem so close. Organized a year ago in Japan, after a year’s delay due to Covid-19, they had seen the French delegation win 33 medals (10 gold medals, 12 silver medals, 11 bronze medals). Now it’s time for the Winter Olympics, which are being held in Beijing from February 4 to 20.

Gold

Biathlon. Tuesday, February 8, Quentin Fillon Maillet gave France its first Olympic title in Beijing by winning the individual. Imperial on skis, despite two faults on the shooting range, the French biathlete beat Belarusian Anton Smolski and Norwegian Johannes Boe.

Silver

Snowboard. On Wednesday February 9, Chloé Trespeuch snatched silver in snowboardcross at the Zhangjiakou site. Preceded by Lindsey Jacobellis, the French offered her second Olympic medal after the bronze in Sochi, in 2014. The podium is completed by the Canadian Meryeta Odine.

Biathlon. On Saturday February 5, the biathlon team won second place and the silver medal in the mixed relay. Anaïs Chevalier-Bouchet, Émilien Jacquelin, Quentin Fillon Maillet and Julia Simon, who were aiming for gold, were finally overtaken by the Norwegians, winners of the event. However, they are ahead of the Russians, who complete the podium.

Alpine skiing. Monday, February 7, Johan Clarey ranked second in the downhill behind the Swiss Beat Feuz, Olympic champion. At 41, the Frenchman has become the oldest Olympic medalist in alpine skiing history. Austrian Matthias Mayer completes the podium.
