Olympics 2022. Alpine skiing: no medal for Tessa Worley and the French in the super-G, Gut-Behrami in gold

Switzerland’s Lara Gut-Behrami won gold, her second medal in Yanqing after the giant’s bronze. For her third Olympic medal after also the bronze in the downhill in 2014, Gut-Behrami beat the Austrian Mirjam Puchner by 22 hundredths and the Swiss Michelle Gisin by 30 hundredths. American Mikaela Shiffrin finished ninth.

“These were my last Games”

“Leaving for four years honestly is not going to do it. I do not ask myself the question of when will be the end but I know that these were my last Games”, indicated Worley in the mixed zone.

Worley, one of the biggest winners in French skiing (15 World Cup victories, two world champion titles, but no Olympic medal), was one of the two flag bearers of the French delegation in Beijing for his third Games. Her results are so far far from what she hoped for with a giant run off the track on Monday, her favorite discipline, and this anonymous 19th place in the super-G.

“It’s difficult to analyze this race. The top part I take bad lines, I’m not aggressive enough, yet I knew it was very easy, I’m too wide on the trajectories. At the last Games I was touched, at the bottom of the hole. There it affects me but I tell myself that I have done good things, not everything is to be thrown away. I still have a team race that is really close to my heart, it will be a great opportunity,” she explained.
