Noting that the hero of his childhood (and of a whole generation) is falling into oblivion, Jérôme Salle embarks on the project of a biopic on oceanographic explorer Jacques-Yves Cousteau.
Despite all his admiration for this French icon, the director does not hesitate to approach his gray areas: his seductive side, but above all his passionate filial love with his son Philippe. A successful approach since when it was released, The Odyssey achieved a record by exceeding one million admissions in France (1,206,547 to be exact).
Carried by a five-star cast, an organic staging and a haunting soundtrack by Alexandre Desplat, this family saga also delivers an important ecological message.
