Production for the One Piece live-action series is in full swing, and as a result, streaming provider Netflix is also releasing more and more cast information. Brand new: The actors for the two antagonists.
“One Piece” series: The cast is growing
Some anime fans probably still can’t believe it, but streaming giant Netflix actually produces a live-action series based on the hit anime One Piece.
During the main cast has been known for a few weeks, the actors for further roles have now been revealed. Including the actors for the two antagonistspirate clown buggy and fishman Arlong:
Buggy is made by Americans Jeff Ward played, the comic fans possibly as Deke Shaw Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD know.
While McKinley Belcher III slips into the role of Arlong. Belcher is known, for example, from the Netflix series ozarkwhich was released between 2017 and 2020.
As you can easily see from Belcher’s Instagram profile, he’s really looking forward to playing the evil fishman who will make life difficult for Luffy and his crew:
One Piece needs to be a hit for Netflix
The One Piece live-action series is Netflix’s next big attempt at an anime-based global hit. The live-action series for Cult Anime Cowboy Bebop was very mixed with fans and critics (41 percent on Metacritic) and was discontinued after just one season.
In this respect, the “One Piece” series must definitely work for Netflix. This is mainly responsible for Showrunner Steven Maeda, who has worked on hit shows like The X-Files and Lost in the past. One Piece is though his biggest project to date. There is no official release date for the series yet.
