Already deployed on Galaxy S24, S24+ And S24 Ultra, the One Ui 6.1 update is about to take its first steps on old Samsung smartphones. Enough to allow as many people as possible to benefit from the functionalities provided by Galaxy AI.

One thing promised, one due: Samsung has just made official the availability of Galaxy AI features on more devices in the Galaxy range. Presented extensively at the Galaxy Unpacked presentation conference in January, Samsung’s artificial intelligence caused a sensation when it arrived on the Galaxy S24 series.

By the end of 2024, the Korean promises to offer the Galaxy AI experience to more than 100 million users of Galaxy smartphones and tablets.

One UI 6.1 is available on previous generation Galaxy smartphones

Since its debut last month, the Galaxy S24 must have made some people jealous. With the marketing of its new smartphones, Samsung this year wanted to provide users with a complete experience based on artificial intelligence. Aiming to ” paving the way for a new era of AI mobile », Galaxy AI also aims to “ empower users by making AI more accessible “. And to make it more “accessible”, what better way to extend it to a larger number of devices?

We mentioned it to you a few days ago, the site Android Authority, generally well informed, raised the possibility that Samsung could soon deploy its AI on its old smartphones. It is now confirmed, owners of Galaxy S23, Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 will in turn be able to benefit from the update to One UI 6.1.

Galaxy smartphones are full of new features

Last Thursday, Samsung published the list of features that will soon be available on older generation smartphones. Thus, the Chat Assist translation functionality, which allows you to adjust the tone of your messages and translate your discussions in real time, will be included. The Live Translate function, which allows you to translate your telephone conversations with a person who does not speak the same language as you, will also be present.

Regarding the various productivity-related tools, note that the Notes Assistant and the Web Assistant, which respectively allow you to generate summaries of your notes and summarize articles/web pages in no time, will also be available. In addition, the very practical “Circle to Search” option, jointly developed by Google and Samsung, will now allow S23, Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5 users to search for information without having to leave the current application.

For fans of photo/video editing, know that the AI will also be able to resize, reposition or realign the objects present in your photos, but also to suggest modifications to you. Finally, you can count on the Instant Slow-mo function to add a slow motion effect to your videos without having to take additional shots.

This highly anticipated update will be deployed from the end of March on the Galaxy S23, Galaxy Z Flip 5, Galaxy Z Fold 5, but also on Galaxy S23 FE and Galaxy Tab S9. So happy ?

Samsung Galaxy S24

  • Excellent screen
  • Overall performance
  • Galaxy AI + OneUI 6.1

The most compact of Samsung’s premium smartphones, the Galaxy S24 is an attractive smartphone in many aspects. We appreciate the quality of its screen and its overall performance which does not suffer from the return to Exynos SoCs. Apart from this change, the S24 does not really evolve at the hardware level, particularly in terms of photography. It might be time for the manufacturer to evolve its imaging platform which has been stagnant since S22.

Without being catastrophic, the autonomy of the S24 is not extraordinary. It is even behind that of the S23, although equipped with a less powerful battery. Main culprit, the return to the Exynos architecture, abandoned last year on the S23, and which has never really stood out for its energy sobriety.

Fortunately, the software part is evolving… and not just a little. If OneU+I 6.1 remains as intuitive as ever, we especially note the appearance of Galaxy AI, the artificial intelligence concocted by Samsung. If it is not yet perfect, it has the merit of opening the way to new uses. Other good news is that the supply of major versions of the OS and security patches is now guaranteed for seven years. We can only congratulate Samsung, which did not take the opportunity to increase its prices (already high, it is true).
