Aldi Nord and Aldi Süd are again offering train tickets at low prices this year. Due to the high demand, however, the campaign tickets are not available in regular stores or online. We’ll tell you where to get the cards and what to consider when buying.

Train tickets can be expensive. Especially if you want to drive at peak times, for example in the morning, early evening or sometimes on a Sunday. It is not uncommon for round-trip journeys to cost several hundred euros, which can quickly burn a deep hole in your wallet.

In a recurring campaign, however, Aldi Nord and Süd are offering discounted tickets with which travelers can buy particularly cheap DB tickets. Also this fall there are from September 20th to December 11th, 2021 the discounted tickets again in all participating branches.

DB tickets at Aldi: that’s behind the offer

The Aldi tickets are two one-way trips within Germany in 2nd class on the long-distance trains ICE, IC and EC. They are sold for a total price of 49.90 euros.

Because of the high demand, the tickets are not sold regularly in the branches or in the discounter’s online shop. On the websites of Aldi north and Aldi south the grocer explains that customers Ask directly at the checkout and a special four-digit number code (8988). This is 8988.

You should pay attention to these details before buying

As part of the campaign, you should definitely pay attention to a few important conditions of participation:

  • The travel period for tickets is less than three months and is between September 27 and December 11, 2021. This means that customers must redeem their booking codes and tickets during this period, otherwise they will not be applicable.
  • You will not receive the ticket directly at the cash desk. You will receive a booking code that you have to redeem online. You can find detailed instructions below.
  • In addition, the ticket generally not on Fridays and trips with local trains usable. Seat reservations are also not possible with the special ticket.
  • Per person are allowed a maximum of ten promotion tickets to be bought. Additional vouchers and discounts, e.g. with the BahnCard, cannot be combined.
  • The exchange, reimbursement or cash payment of the tickets are not possible.
  • The discounter also draws attention to the fact that some trains cannot be booked due to insufficient seats.

Buy a DB ticket:
