The Oscar Academy has taken on around 400 new members. Including Robert Pattinson and two Germans, among others.

395 new members from 50 nations will have a say in the award of the golden boys at the Oscar Academy. As reported by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, among the newcomers are also sonorous names such as actor Robert Pattinson (35) or singer Janet Jackson (55).

A total of 46 percent of the new members are women, over 50 percent are not Americans, and 39 percent belong to minorities. By the way: 395 new members are very few compared to previous years. Last year, 819 new members were invited. The reason: Due to the comparatively high number of new members in recent years, the aim was to counter the accusation that the academy was primarily made up of old, white men.

Also two Germans among the new members

Two Germans are also among the chosen this year: the editor Gesa Jäger (40, “Unorthodox”) and the art director Sebastian Krawinkel (52, “A hidden life”). In addition to Jackson and Pattinson, the actor and musician Leslie Odom Jr. (39, “One Night in Miami”), the French director Florian Zeller (42, “The Father”) and the Bulgarian actress Maria Bakalova (25, ” Borat connection movie film “) added.

There are a total of around 10,000 members in the Oscar Academy, the next presentation of the most prestigious film award in the world is planned for March 27, 2022.
