Outlander star Sam Heughan and Lucifer star Tom Eillis have been good friends for a long time. In an interview, Ellis revealed that he had auditioned for a role in the historical drama.
In the interview, published by British magazine Square Mile, Ellis told Heughan: “I’ll let you in on a little secret. I auditioned for ‘Outlander’, not for Jamie Fraser but for Tobias Menzies’ role, ‘Black Jack’ Randall.”
Heughan then joked that he didn’t know how he would have felt if he had been abused by Eliis, so to speak. Fans who have followed “Outlander” from the beginning will know that it refers to the season 1 finale in which Jamie is raped by Randall at Wentworth Prison.
That would have been pretty tricky but I know we would have had a great time. Actually, you would have been brilliant in it, because Frank Randall is this charming, lovable character, and Black Jack, the other role you were supposed to play, is just violent. It’s a great role. Of course, Tobias is doing a great job, but that would have been so different.
