  • Jamie and Claire’s epic relationship continues in the new season 7 of Outlander.
  • The dragonfly in amber is a sign of their love, which has survived even the changing times.
  • “Dragonfly in the Amber” is also the title of Diana Gabaldon’s second novel and an episode title in Season 2.

Claire and Jamie’s relationship is clearly at the heart of the fantasy series Outlander. What started out as an arranged marriage in Season 1, Episode 7 ultimately led to a deep bond, and the two remained inseparable. Particularly fateful: Claire receives a mysterious gift from beggar Hugh Munroe on her wedding day: the Dragonfly in Amber.

In Season 2, Episode 13, Claire flees back to her original time to save herself from the upcoming battle in Culloden. As sign of their eternal love to Jamie she gives him the precious fossil, thus sealing the premature end of their relationship. Appropriately, the episode title is “Dragonfly in Amber”, just like Diana Gabaldon’s 2nd novel.

Returning to the 1960s, Claire visits the Battle of Culloden Museum. Along the way, she discovers the significant amber in a collection of artifacts found on the battlefield. Even after more than 200 years, this specimen finds its way back to her as if it were a gift from Jamie himself. The stone stands the test of time, which is symbolic of the everlasting bond stands between Jamie and Claire.

If you want to know how their fateful relationship will continue: The 7th season of “Outlander” starts on June 16, 2023 on the US channel Starz. Shortly after the US broadcast, you can also stream the new episodes in Germany by purchasing the episodes from Amazon Prime Video.
