Overwatch 2: Sombra makes a mess with even faster Quick Matches

Since its release in free-to-play in October 2022, Overwatch 2 is on its merry way with Seasons adding content, including maps and Hero. While players can try the Tank Mauga since last month with the Season 8behold THE Quick games are temporarily modified.

Throughout the weekend, players can discover The mode Quick game: hacking (Even quicker game)which modifies the rules quite a bit by energizing the gameplay with faster convoys and point captures, as well as shorter respawn times. Here are all the changes:

  • Respawn times now increase to 75% of their normal duration;
  • Convoys move 60% faster on Escort and Hybrid maps;
  • Taking control of the lens in Hybrid mode is 40% faster than normal;
  • Taking control of the objective in Control mode is 40% faster than normal, and the capture progress percentage is 80% faster;
  • Taking control of the objective in Hot Spot mode is 20% faster than normal, and the capture progress percentage is 40% faster;
  • When playing on an Escort, Hybrid or Advanced type map, the initial duration of the game has been reduced to 70% of the usual duration, and any extensions are also reduced to 70% of the total additional duration;
  • These changes only apply to Role Queue and Free Select quick matches for the duration of the event and will return to normal after January 14. Competitive Play and Arcade modes are not affected by these changes.

Blizzard explain that this mode of Quick part: hacking is a first temporary experiment which only affects the style of the game, but not the characters, everything will be back to normal on January 14. The studio shares an FAQ to reassure players and detail this experiment:

  • Why change the Quick Play rules for a weekend?

We want to know which changes to Overwatch 2 you like the most. Testing new ideas with you for a limited time allows us to quickly understand what you like and potentially implement changes to improve gameplay. It also allows players of all skill levels to try new playstyles and strategies that might not work as well in a typical Overwatch game.

  • Why not create a separate insert in the Arcade?

Arcade is for modes that typically only play on a specific map type (like Attack) or that offer completely different ways to play Overwatch. The changes to Quick Match: Hack affect the core gameplay of our main mode, while aiming to provide a more balanced and unique gaming experience compared to the classic format.

  • Why not reinstate the “Laboratory” insert?

We wanted as many people as possible to take part in this experiment. Additionally, the Overwatch Lab typically offered testing for character balance changes, while these changes affect the base rules of Quick Match.

  • How to play with Classic Quick Match rules?

You can start a custom game with traditional Quick Match rules and invite other players. Quick Match matchmaking will return to normal after January 14.

Difficult to really see what he wants to do Blizzard with this life-size test, if not to energize the gameplay ofOverwatch 2 to attract more people. You can find prepaid cards Battle.net at the house of Micromania.
