Paderborn’s Edeljoker stings late

FC St. Pauli is lame in the fight for promotion. Despite a good start, the Kiezkicker couldn’t get three points against SC Paderborn in the evening. For Hamburg it is the fifth game in the Bundesliga lower house without a win.
FC St. Pauli is losing more and more momentum in the promotion race of the 2nd Bundesliga. Hamburg had to be content with a 2:2 (2:1) against SC Paderborn in the evening and missed the chance to jump to the top of the table in the fifth game in a row without a win.
In front of 6,000 spectators in the Millerntor Stadium, Maximilian Dittgen (5th minute) and Etienne Amenyido (44th) scored the goals for the second-placed team from Hamburg. Dennis Srbeny (37th) and Marco Stiepermann (84th) prevented Paderborn’s first away defeat of the season with their goals.
The hosts immediately looked for a way forward and their first good whistle gave them an early lead, which Dittgen scored with his fourth goal of the season after great work from Amenyido. It took the SCP a few minutes to digest the shock, but he gradually took control of the game. Srbeny stayed cool in front of keeper Nikola Vasilj and scored to equalize. However, it didn’t last until the break because this time Dittgen hung up perfectly for Amenyido, who executed.
After the change, St. Pauli was lucky that Vasilj was just able to prevent an own goal from Jakov Medic with a strong save (57th). And bad luck that his free-standing midfielder Marcel Hartel was blocked at the last moment (63′). Substitute Kai Pröger (66th) opened the final offensive with a shot at the crossbar. Edeljoker Stiepermann then hit with a shot worth seeing for the deserved partial success for the strong guests.
Paderborn has only won one of the last eight league games, but still has a minimal chance of relegation place three. Leader Darmstadt 98 can pull away in the top game against Hamburger SV on Sunday.
