Wind and weather put a lot of pressure on flower pots in the garden or on the balcony. But instead of buying new ones, you can treat them to a makeover. So you have something from the pots for longer and also a nice DIY project! Depending on what material the planters are made of, you should choose the colorants accordingly, because not all of them will stick to every surface. Acrylic paint you can use and also for plastic, concrete, metal or terracotta, for example Blackboard paint is suitable for metal or concrete. Effect spray can often be used on the most common materials. But before you get paint, you should rather check which surface it is intended for – otherwise the result could be different than desired.

If you want to paint your flower pots, there are countless creative ideas to choose from. If you want to make a dark pot lighter, you need strong opaque paint, a second coat is very likely. So it’s better to plan enough material. Depending on the starting color, you can also consider whether a nice shabby chic effect can be created with it! The metallic color is a nice contrast to the gray concrete and creates a wow effect in no time! How it works? Very simple: Measure how big the edge should be and tape off the lower area (e.g. with painter’s tape) to protect the rest of the pot. Now you can paint the edge with your color, let it dry and then remove the tape again.
