Returning goods instead of used cars: Panagiota Petridou moderates after the end of “Offer Rustlaube, sucht Traumauto” on RTLzwei.
New task for Panagiota Petridou (42). At the end of 2021, VOX pulled the plug on their show “Offer Rostlaube, sucht Traumauto”. After eleven years and 104 episodes, Germany’s best-known car saleswoman was over. Instead of vehicles, the presenter is now dealing with returns for RTLzwei. On February 16, 2022, the competing broadcaster “Die Retourenjäger” will start.
With the new show, RTLzwei is picking up on a phenomenon that reached an even larger dimension during the Corona crisis than was already the case: online trading. And with it, the business with returns is also booming. Because according to the broadcaster, the Germans sent back over 500 million orders last year.
Hot or scrap with the “return hunters”
In “The Return Hunters” six dealers are now fighting over pallets with returns. The funny thing is that you don’t know whether treasure or scrap is waiting in the auctioned pallets. Presenter Panagiota Petridou only lets you look under the packaging for a moment, then the haggling begins.
René (55) and Daniela (50) Nimz, Alexander Kasarinow (31), Dirk Wünning (55), Hanno Zwicker (59) and Eva Stevanello (44) are the professionals who mostly fight blindly for returns.
For Panagiota Petridou, a trained wholesale and foreign trade clerk, the show is an ideal playing field. “Negotiating and haggling is in my blood. That’s why I’m really looking forward to my new job as presenter of ‘Die Retourenjäger’,” she says in a press release.
The first four episodes of “Die Retourenjäger” will be broadcast on RTLzwei from February 16, 2022 on Wednesdays at 8:15 p.m.
