Panties sent to Jean Castex as a sign of anger

About a hundred traders are calling for the reopening of lingerie stores. For this, they sent panties to Prime Minister Jean Castex.

The operation “Cheeky action” was launched this Monday, April 19, 2021 on TikTok. On her account named Ms. Toutlemonde, the manager of a lingerie store in Burgundy explained the initiative, which she is launching with the support of other lingerie merchants whose stores are closed due to the health crisis. The idea? Protest against the closure of businesses deemed non-essential during this Covid-19 pandemic. How? ‘Or’ What ? By mailing panties to Matignon, addressed to Prime Minister Jean Castex.

“No, putting on panties every morning is not to be relegated to the background, we have every right to be open”, explains the young woman on TikTok, recalling in passing that the shelves of lingerie in supermarkets are indeed accessible. “Supermarkets are open, welcome the public often without respecting the fixed gauges and do not always enforce social distancing measures. (…) Studies show that it is not in independent businesses that the risk transmission rate is the highest “, can we read in A press release published by Action Culottée.

According to the collective, in total, more than 80 panties were sent to Jean Castex. This offbeat, but also hyper-committed initiative is a fine example of the union of women, highly represented in the profession, to give a voice to small traders in the textile industry. A daring communication stunt, of course, but one that works. And who revisits the cliché of the panties sent to a famous man … Seize a sexist cliché and divert it to claim his rights? We are a fan of the concept!
