Paralympic Games: third gold medal for Arthur Bauchet


French skier Arthur Bauchet, 21, won his third gold medal at the Beijing Paralympics on Sunday, in the slalom (standing category), confirming the hopes placed in him for several years.

On the slopes of Yanqing, in the mountainous suburbs of Beijing, the athlete licensed at the Briançon ski club beat the Chinese Liang Jingyi and the New Zealander Adam Hall. This is Arthur Bauchet’s fourth medal at these Games. The communicative jovial athlete had already won two titles (downhill and super combined) as well as silver in the giant slalom.

French cross-country skiers Benjamin Daviet and Anthony Chalençon won silver on Sunday in the cross-country skiing relay at the Paralympic Games in Beijing (March 4-13), bringing another medal to the French team. On the slopes of the northern site of Zhangjiakou, the two men, titled in Pyeonchang in 2018, were overtaken by the Ukrainian team. This is the fourth medal in Beijing for Benjamin Daviet. The 32-year-old Haut-Savoyard had already won gold in cross-country skiing (sprint) and biathlon (individual), as well as silver in the middle distance background. A native of Evian, Anthony Chalençon, 31, won his first medal at these Games with this 4 x 2.5km open relay.

France ends these Paralympics with 12 medals (including 7 gold) and a fourth place overall behind China, Ukraine and Canada.
