In the appeal process against parents who are now divorced, the public prosecutor is calling for the prison sentences to be increased to 19½ and 15 years.
The allegations against the parents have been rehearsed since Tuesday in the Supreme Court.
The case of a couple of parents who allegedly abused their children for years, malnourished them and locked them in the basement made headlines in September 2020: also because the Zurich District Court announced at the opening of the verdict that it would file criminal charges against those responsible for the former Zurich guardianship authority after the behavior of the parents had remained without consequences for years.
