Two women and a man have been appearing since Tuesday March 28 before the Paris Assize Court for the assassination in 2019, against a backdrop of voodoo witchcraft, of a 36-year-old woman, wife of one of the accused. In the box, the three defendants decline their identities.

Christy Daupin, the wife, long braids tied in the back and rectangular glasses on the nose, is a 42-year-old former RATP agent. Iven Webster, 30, Dutch of Haitian origin, former cook, short hair, small mustache, is suspected of being the intermediary with the voodoo priestess.

A “session (…) that went wrong”

Sabrina Moreau, long brown hair falling around her disheveled face, handkerchief tight in hand, ex-commercial employee of 32 years, was the new companion of Christy Daupin. Sylvia G., mother of two young children and employee of a DIY store, was killed in the basement of her building in Paris, during a real “ambushaccording to the prosecution.

According to one of the defendants, it is a “disenchantment session gone wrong“. The victim’s body was discovered a month later in undergrowth in the Paris region. The investigators were quickly interested in the tensions that existed in the couple that she formed with Christy Daupin. Married in 2014, the two women lived under the same roof but had been separated for a year.

“Sell the soul of their children”

Sylvia G. had given birth to twins in 2013 and an adoption procedure had been launched for the benefit of his wife. But the victim had confided to his relatives shortly before that he no longer wanted Christy Daupin to be able to exercise rights over the children. Several testimonies reported violence and death threats made by Christy Daupin who suspected, according to the prosecution, his wife of having been bewitched by his new girlfriend.

According to the investigation, one of her co-accused, Iven Webster, had put her in contact during 2018 with a “voodoo priestessliving in Haiti. Christy Daupin had quickly become imbued with this belief and persuaded that Sylvia, under the influence of a spell, wanted to kill her, “sell the souls of their children“, or even sell the organs of the twins. According to the prosecution, the murder of Sylvia G. occurred in the presence of Christy Daupin, her new romantic relationship, Sabrina Moreau, and Iven Webster. The causes of death could not be determined. Only Sabrina Moreau recognizes the homicidal intent, explaining during the investigation that the “voodoo witch“convinced Christy Daupin of the need to eliminate Sylvia G.
