French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian again summoned the Russian ambassador to Paris on Thursday, after a tweet deemed “indecent” by the embassy on the abuses committed in the Ukrainian town of Boutcha.

“Faced with the indecency and the provocation of the communication of the Russian Embassy in France on Bucha’s abuses, I decided to summon the Russian Ambassador to the Quai d’Orsay this morning”, Alexei Meshkov, tweeted the head of French diplomacy.

The embassy posted a tweet, since removed, titled “film set” and accompanied by a photo showing a crowd of journalists in what appears to be a street in Boutcha, suggesting that the massacres of civilians committed in this city were a staging.

According to the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, Iryna Venediktova, the remains of 410 civilians were found in Boutcha and other territories of the Kyiv region recently recaptured from Russian troops.

Spokeswoman for Russian diplomacy accuses of “falsification”

Moscow for its part denied having killed civilians in Boutcha, the Kremlin and the Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov evoking “falsifications” and staged for the press.

According to the spokeswoman for Russian diplomacy, Maria Zakharova, who considers the Western media “accomplices” in this “falsification”, the Ukrainian side has either executed civilians in this city, or transported bodies there for the purpose of staging.

On March 25, the Russian ambassador had already been summoned to the Quai d’Orsay after the publication of cartoons on the embassy’s Twitter account showing in particular Europeans licking Uncle Sam’s buttocks.

Like many other European capitals, France also announced on Monday the expulsion of 35 Russian diplomats whose activities are deemed “contrary to (its) interests”.
