Paris The police dismantle a traffic of fake entrance tickets to the Louvre museum


Trafficking in fake admission tickets to the Louvre Museum was dismantled in Paris on Wednesday and 14 people were arrested, AFP learned on Saturday from a police source, confirming information from the Parisian.

Police officers from the Paris Conurbation Local Security Department (DSPAP) “carried out a vast operation aimed at dismantling a traffic in counterfeit tickets” which were sold to tourists in the queue in front of the doors of the Parisian museum . “This operation made it possible to arrest 14 individuals, eight of whom were placed in police custody”, specifies the police source. “The six others, in an irregular situation, have been placed in detention as part of the ongoing investigation”.

Tickets collected from visitors and resold

According The Parisianthe members of the network collected the paper or electronic tickets from visitors who had just completed the tour of the museum, before reselling them for more than the purchase price to other people.

The Louvre Museum, which welcomed 2.8 million visitors in 2021, welcomed around 10 million visitors per year before the Covid-19 pandemic.
