Now he has called on his subscribers via Instagram to wear mouth-nose protection during the coronavirus crisis. For this he uses a quote from his character from the series.

Dempsey writes about a photo that shows him wearing a checkered protective mask: "It is a wonderful day to save lives". His alter ego Dr. Derek Shepherd often said this before operating. The actor uses three hashtags to illustrate his message. In addition to "Covid-19", he also uses "#WearAMask", in German "Wear a mask" and "#YourActionsSaveLives", in German "Your actions save lives".
Patrick Dempsey embodied Dr. Derek Shepherd in the first eleven seasons of "Grey's Anatomy". The figure eventually dies in serial death.
