PayPal reports payment to Netflix: Then caution is advised

The payment confirmation looks quite authentic and is difficult to recognize as a fake at first glance. The money will supposedly be debited from your account within two working days. The scammers are counting on you not agreeing to the payment and clicking on the attached link that says “Resolve Conflict”.

If you do that, you end up on a fake PayPal page, according to the consumer advice center. There you will be asked to provide personal data for the cancellation, which will then immediately fall into the hands of the criminals.

We advise you to ignore the mail and under no circumstances click on the link or enter any data. In the worst case, these can be misused by the criminals to take over your account. You don’t have to be afraid that the said amount will be debited from you, the criminals are not able to do that.

A first indication that you have received a phishing email: the email will ask you to confirm personal data or to enter it on a website.
