Peggy Pope: US character actress died at 91

American actress Florence "Peggy" Pope died on May 27 at the age of 91. Her relatives announced this in an obituary on the "Everhere.com" website. Exactly one month after her death, on June 27, 2020, there would be a celebration in honor of the actress, which could be seen in both cinema and TV productions.

She played alongside Jane Fonda and Dolly Parton

Pope first appeared in 1966 in the television series "The Trails of O'Brien" alongside Peter Falk (1927-2011). She also had small appearances in "Golden Girls", "Emergency Room – Die Notaufnahme" or "Law & Order". One of her most famous cinema roles is that of drinking-proof secretary Margaret Foster in the comedy "Why do we … don't we kill the boss?" (1980) with Jane Fonda (82) and Dolly Parton (74). Five years later, she appeared in the horror comedy "Once Bite Please", in which Jim Carrey (58) also appeared before his breakthrough.

In the mid-1950s Pope began her acting career at the New York theater and received an Obie Award in 1968 for her part in the play "Mama". Her autobiography "Atta Girl: Tales from a Life in the Trenches of Show Business" was published about nine years ago.
