The Antarctic is known for its seemingly lonely nature, in which one is seemingly completely alone. A Ukrainian research station now has thousands of animal neighbors.

Galíndez Island is a lonely place off the west coast of the Antarctic Peninsula. You really don’t seem to meet anyone here, except for staff from the Ukrainian Vernadsky research base. And now they have several thousand animal neighbors. The reason for this is global warming, because so far penguins have not come so far south to nest.
