A 79-year-old man from the canton of Schwyz had his driving license revoked in 2014. The reason for this is not clear from the penal order issued by the Schwyz public prosecutor’s office. But the pensioner continued to drive.
Two cases from spring and autumn 2020 have been confirmed. The public prosecutor knows that the pensioner was driving his Mazda to his home in Höfe on the afternoon of March 6, 2020. He touched a billboard several times – which he didn’t notice – and then drove home.
Also in September 2020, the pensioner caused damage when he reversed his car when leaving his parking space in the village center and touched the exterior mirror of a delivery van. After that he drove home without caring.
He has to pay the fine immediately
In order not to have to give up driving despite having his license revoked, the pensioner then persuaded his goddaughter to get him new license plates in her name. This explains why the pensioner disappeared under the radar of law enforcement for a number of years starting in 2014 and continued to be on the streets.
Now the man will receive a three-year conditional fine of 70 daily rates of 40 francs each, plus a fine of 1,900 francs. He has to pay the procedural costs of 2805 francs immediately, otherwise he faces 30 days in prison. (ced)
