Hollywood stars met at the People’s Choice Awards in Santa Monica yesterday. Those were the cleaners of the evening.
Star hype in Santa Monica: On Wednesday night, the big gala for the 47th edition of the People’s Choice Awards took place in the Californian coastal city. In total, over 40 different prizes were awarded in the categories of film, television, fashion and music. These are the winners of the most important categories of the evening:
The jury awarded four special prizes this year. The icon of the year for the readers of “People” magazine last year was actress Halle Berry (55). Not surprisingly, the award for the greatest fashion icon went to Kim Kardashian (41), and Christina Aguilera (40) was honored as a music icon. The most prestigious award, the so-called Champion Award, was won by US actor Dwayne Johnson (49) in 2021.
BTS become the most successful musical act
There were few surprises with the music awards. The successful South Korean pop group BTS turned out to be the big winner of the evening. In total, they won three awards for best band, for best song and for best music video. Rapper Lil Nas X (22) was named the best male solo artist of the year. For the female counterpart, the decision fell on the British singer Adele (33), who is currently causing a sensation worldwide with her comeback album.
Blockbusters win in the film categories
In the film categories, the audience decided on the biggest blockbusters in 2021 in all categories: the Marvel hit “Black Widow” was awarded as the best film. Leading actress Scarlett Johansson (37) also won the title of best female film star. Audience favorite Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson also took home the awards for Best Male Movie Star and Best Comedy Movie Star. Other awards include “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” (best action film), “Free Guy” (best comedy film) and “Cruella” (best drama).
Usual acquaintances at the TV awards
As in the music and film categories, the big, well-known series and shows also won the TV awards – no insider tips. The best series was the Marvel production “Loki”, the best drama series was once again “Grey’s Anatomy”. “Loki” actor Tom Hiddleston (40) appropriately received the award for best male TV star, while Ellen Pompeo (52) received the identical award in the female category for her performance in the hospital series. “The Voice”, “The Ellen De Generes Show”, “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” and “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” won the show categories.

Incidentally, the evening was hosted by comedy star Kenan Thompson (43). As laudators, Cardi B (29), Paris Jackson (23) and Maggie Q (42) presented awards to the winners of the evening. The award of the champion of the year to Dwayne Johnson was presented by none other than Amazon boss Jeff Bezos (57).
