The series “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” is coming to Disney+ and one of the fans’ favorite characters will not appear there for budgetary reasons.
Percy Jackson returns to the screens! The hero of Rick Riordan’s books, already transposed to the cinema in 2010 and 2013, is now the subject of a series on Disney+. Entitled Percy Jackson and the Olympians, it also takes from the first volume and features actor Walker Scobell in the title role.
While the program is launched this December 20 on the platform, information shared by the creator specifies that one of the characters – much loved by the fan community – will not appear in the series for budgetary reasons.
This is Argos, security guard of the Half-Blood colony, who is present in the majority of volumes of the saga. This character, who exists in Greek mythology, has the particularity of having eyes that cover his entire body. He can see everything, all the time.
Although the series is more faithful to the books than the films were, Argos will be absent from the program because the special effects required were far too expensive. It must be said that the project is already full of many creatures.
However, the character appeared in the first scripts, as Mythomagic Inc, Rick Riordan’s production company, explains:
“We worked hard to get Argos in the show (he was in the storyline at the start of episode 2), but when we realized that the entire visual effects budget would have been spent on the eye design, we changed his minds, explains the company in a post published on Threads (Instagram).
