Peter Green: Fleetwood Mac co-founder passed away unexpectedly

Guitar legend and Fleetwood Mac co-founder Peter Green is dead. The Brit died at the age of 73.

British blues guitarist and co-founder of the legendary Fleetwood Mac band, Peter Green (1946-2020), died. His family said this in a statement. The 73-year-old died peacefully in his sleep. In the coming days, further details will be announced in a new statement. Together with drummer Mick Fleetwood (73), he founded the rock and blues band Fleetwood Mac in 1967.

Green himself left the band after his first successes in 1970. Although he is still considered one of the best guitarists of all time (his nickname was "The Green God"), he increasingly withdrew from the public and worked, among other things, as a cemetery gardener. It was only in the late 1970s that he returned to the music business with solo albums. In Germany, Peter Green was last seen at smaller concerts in 2009.
