The vaccine, based on the mRNA technology that is also the source of rival Moderna’s vaccines, is used in more than 160 countries, including the United States, and Pfizer aims to produce more than 4 billion doses of the vaccine in 2022. Paxlovid, the oral COVID pill, has shown promise in reducing hospitalizations and deaths in high-risk patients, and the company plans to produce at least 120 million doses of the pill this year.
