Actors, journalists, singers, members of British royalty and even politicians, there are many personalities who have publicized their fights against cancer. Like every year, Monday March 18 marked the start of national cancer week. On this occasion, Gala.fr highlights the life stories of celebrities who have made their fight against illness a message of hope. On Friday March 22, Kate Middleton announced that she had cancer, diagnosed following examinations carried out after her abdominal operation last January. The Princess of Wales, who wanted to play the transparency card like her father-in-law, Charles III, sent a message of hope to people suffering from the same illness: “You are not alone.” It would seem that, like that of the King of England, Kate Middleton’s cancer was detected early: in fact, the Princess of Wales announced that she was undergoing preventive chemotherapy.

A difficulty in life that Charles III and his daughter-in-law share in particular with another member of the royal family, Sarah Ferguson. Through her spokesperson, the mother of Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie revealed that she had undergone a double mastectomy to fight breast cancer. While she had no apparent symptoms, the ex-wife of Prince Andrew learned that she suffered from this disease following a simple routine examination. As soon as she returned home after five days of hospitalization at the private King Edward VII hospital in London, the latter broadcast a message of prevention through her podcast “Tea Talks with the Duchess and Sarah”, recorded the day before his operation. At the beginning of January, Sarah Ferguson learned that she now had to deal with skin cancer: fortunately, it should be treatable. And she is far from the only public figure to address her struggle.

The comedian Claudia Tagbo who, at the age of 30, discovered that she had breast cancer, spoke about this ordeal in 2014 on the show The Unexpected Parenthesis. “I was going through something pretty tough, breast cancer. All this time when everyone is laughing, when I am making people laugh… that this red sweater is magnificent, underneath, there are bandages”revealed the one who continued to do her job during her treatment.

Florent Pagny is obviously one of the artists to have shaken up in 2022. Affected by violent lung cancer, the 61-year-old singer was forced to cancel his concerts to concentrate on his health, surrounded by his family. If the interpreter of My freedom of thought had lost his hair and eyebrows for a while, it seems today that he has regained his usual look and shape, as evidenced by a reassuring photo posted on Instagram by Kendji Girac, on January 25, 2023.

Évelyne Dhéliat courageous in the face of illness

The story of Alice Detollenaere is also moving. It was in 2019, at the age of 32, that the model learned that she had breast cancer. Camille Lacourt’s companion recounted her long fight in a book, Healed by your love, published in October 2021 by Leduc editions. And it is important. Because the young woman who is now cured reports that it was during a self-palpation that she detected “a lump in her left breast”. A biopsy confirms his fear but if taken care of in time, the disease is effectively treated.

Évelyne Dhéliat did not present the weather forecast for several months on TF1 in 2012. The following year, she revealed that she had breast cancer. “At the time, I told myself that there was no point in talking about it and that it would perhaps go unnoticed”she subsequently declared in TV Star. “I had surgery and had extensive treatment. People started asking why I wasn’t there. So I decided to say it. I came back, I had a wig. It was complicated for me to go through all that”she also remembered victoriously.
