Pixel 6: Google suspends the rollout of the December update

New quack for Google and its Pixel 6: the company is temporarily suspending the deployment of the December update on these models. Users of these smartphones will have to wait for a patch that will arrive by the end of January.

The great Pixel 6 Android December 12 update saga continues. If the Pixels are known to always receive Android updates and security patches first, this time around, owners of the latest models are not in luck. Google has indeed struggled for weeks with bugs and delays, and tries to fix them with fixes.

A patch available in January

By rolling out the December update for the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, Google has fixed some concerns, but also caused others. The main problem was the loss of network signal, making calls impossible for many users, especially in Europe. Faced with the extent of the damage, Google announced in a message posted on the Pixel support forum that it had suspended the deployment of this update on these devices. The message further explains that a fix was found. Good news a priori, except that this one will not be rolled out until the end of January in an update. The latter will contain all the fixes and improvements expected at the base in December.

It should also be remembered that in addition to the bugs apparently caused by the last update, the Pixel 6 have encountered a number of concerns since their release in October 2021. We can cite in a jumble a lack of reliability of the fingerprint reader , network signal problems, a restriction of the quality of streaming, or a malfunction of the automatic rotation.

The company even explains, in the rest of the message, how to reverse for owners of a Pixel 6 who have already installed the December update. It is in fact possible for them to revert to the previous software version by using the Android Flash Tool.

Google concludes by apologizing for the inconvenience caused … and calls for patience.
