Pixel 7 Pro: scratching the smartphone is child’s play, the proof in video

It’s been a few weeks since the Pixel 7 Pro hit the market, and it’s YouTuber JerryRigEverything’s turn to torture the device on video, in his famous extreme durability test.

If today’s smartphones look quite similar, be aware that they do not all offer the same ability to withstand shocks. If the OnePlus 10T is too fragile and can be folded in half very easily, other smartphones such as the Galaxy Z Fold 4 are even more resistant than some non-folding devices.

Last year, the Pixel 6 Pro survived YouTuber JerryRigEverything’s famous extreme durability test, and it’s now up to the new Pixel 7 Pro to try the exercise. According to the video published on YouTube, it will be necessary to be careful with the smartphone, because this one does not seem to like sharp objects.

Pixel 7 Pro narrowly survives durability test

During his test, JerryRigEverything finds that the Pixel 7 Pro’s screen, protected by Gorilla Glass Victus, is just as tough as the others. Indeed, the scratches are visible from level 6 on the Mohs scale, with deeper scratches at level 7. However, it appears that its cutter is able to leave significant scratches on the front and backwhich is also protected by Gorilla Glass Victus.

At the level of the photo module, the YouTuber recalls that Google uses an anodizing technique for the brilliant color around the cameras. The latter is therefore not very resistant to abrasion.. Leaving your smartphone in your pocket for long periods of time or placing it in contact with keys could therefore well lead to strong scratches and discolorations all around the sensors.

Finally, when it comes to the bend test, the Pixel 7 Pro barely survived. Indeed, after folding the smartphone forward, JerryRigEverything finds thata space has formed just above the photo antenna, where there is an array antenna. This is exactly how the OnePlus 10 Pro cracked during its test. Significant pressure could therefore cause the smartphone to lose its water resistance, even if the latter does not completely fold in half. If you own a Pixel 7 Pro, we therefore recommend that you take great care with your smartphone.
