Pixel 9 Pro: we know what Google’s future smartphone should look like

The MySmartPrice site and the very well-informed OnLeaks reveal the very probable look of a smartphone which should only be released in the last quarter of 2024. The Pixel 9 Pro, future spearhead of Google’s range of smartphones, is thus shown under all its seams in a 360° video rendering posted on YouTube. Such a revelation so early in the year is surprising, but remains largely credible, the leaker OnLeaks having often been right.

These renderings would confirm a trend to which Google would have given in for its new generation of Pixel, namely the choice of flat edges, breaking with the rounded edges adopted until the recent Pixel 8 and 8 Pro, which is obviously reminiscent of the Samsung Galaxy S24 and S24+ presented at the start of the year.

According to MySmartPrice, the Google Pixel 9 Pro would see its screen diagonal slightly reduced to 6.5 inches, compared to 6.7 inches for the Pixel 8 Pro, while its dimensions would be 162.7 x 76.6 x 8.5 mm. This would make it a thinner terminal, although we note that its thickness would increase to 12 mm including the photo block. The latter would actually be much more protruding and would swap its metal strip occupying the entire width of the device for a horizontal pill shape which would no longer touch the ends of the terminal.

While the photo module on the back should house a wide-angle, or even a telephoto lens in the form of a periscopic lens, no exact specifications have leaked at the moment. A simple report dating from December 14, 2023 mentioned the arrival of a new software product: a virtual assistant boosted by artificial intelligence.

At the speed at which the smartphone is being revealed, we can expect further details before having it in hand, probably around October.
