The Metropolis of Lyon has renewed its confidence in PIZZORNO Environnement and its subsidiary Propolys with the renewal of the household waste collection contract. Thus, present in the Rhone capital since 2007, the Group is awarded lot 2 relating to the 3rd and 6th arrondissements of Lyon and lot 5 which concerns the towns of Bron, Villeurbanne and Vaulx-en-Velin.

From bike to 26-ton dumpster: 100% clean energy collection

As part of this contract and in order to meet the objectives of reducing atmospheric emissions from the ZFE (Low Emission Zone), half of the collection vehicles will run on electricity and the other on bioNGV. 8 electric bikes will complete the fleet to facilitate the collection of hyper city centers.

The choice of this equipment is part of the Group’s low-carbon trajectory for reducing CO2 emissions, which has made a commitment to the Métropole to limit the rate of emissions to 22kg CO2/100km.

The issue of bio-waste

This market concerns the door-to-door collection and collection at voluntary drop-off points of household waste, recyclable packaging, glass and bio-waste from more than 400,000 inhabitants.

Artificial intelligence at the service of changing user practices

Beyond its collection missions, the Group positions itself as a support for the environmental performance of the territories and relies in this respect on the ambitions of the Waste Master Plan for the Metropolis to reduce the production of household waste by 25%. and to increase recycled waste by 60%. To do this, quality controls of flows will be organized based on artificial intelligence and data analysis tools. The objective is to inform the user about the quality of his waste, raise awareness about improving his sorting gesture and encourage him to change his practices.

This renewal of the market confirms PIZZORNO Environnement’s expertise in meeting the new challenges of large urban centers for optimized and responsible management of their waste. Thus, for more than 20 years, several cities have delegated all or part of their collection to the Group, such as Greater Paris, the Aix-Marseille Provence Metropolis, the European Metropolis of Lille, Greater Lyon, Nice Côte -d’Azur and Toulon Provence Métropole.
