With Forza Horizon 5, Playground Games has again managed to surpass the expectations of fans of racing games and garnered good marks from the press and gamers. There are already more than 10 million people who have participated in a trip to Mexico since the title was released 2 months ago.
Despite this success, one of the mainstays of the company based in Leamington Spa in England decided to leave the ship. Gavin Raeburn, co-founder and studio director since the company was founded in 2010, will look to horizons unknown. He will be replaced by Trevor Williams, also co-founder (alongside the third thief, Ralph Fulton, him creative director) who served as Chief Operating Officer. Alan Hartman, Corporate Vice President of Turn 10 Studios in charge of licenses Fable and Forza, shared the news in a message to Windows Central :
After 12 years of working on five award-winning Forza Horizon games, Gavin Raeburn is stepping down as Studio Director of Playground Games. We thank Gav, founding member of Playground Games, for his leadership and contributions to the Forza franchise and wish him all the best. Co-founder Trevor Williams will transition from GM to Studio Head effective immediately, as the team at Playground Games focuses on updates to Forza Horizon 5 and further development of Fable.
No one knows if the fact that Playground Games will develop for the first time anything other than a racing game with the reboot of Fable played on Gaevin Raeburn’s decision. Given the man’s pedigree, he should in any case have no trouble bouncing back with a competitor or at the head of a new entity.
