PlayStation Plus: a pearl, a sponge and a failure in sight for April

The titles had leaked, Sony confirmed them on Wednesday: three new games are offered in PlayStation Plus in April. A new month that may seem a little disappointing.

While waiting for the arrival of the three new PlayStation Plus in June, the result of the merger of the advantages of PlayStation Plus and those of PlayStation Now, Sony continues to run its current PS Plus for its subscribers.

If the Dealabs site had, as often, leaked the list of games upstream, Sony confirmed it on Wednesday. Nothing to brag about in April with the three games offered.

PS Plus games available in April 2022

From April 5 to May 3, 2022, here are the games that will be offered on PlayStation Plus:

  • Hood: Outlaws & Legends (PS5, PS4)
  • Slay the Spire (PS4)
  • Spongebob Squarepants: Battle For Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated (PS4)

It’s hard to be completely enthusiastic about this list. Hood Outlaws & Legends is an action and infiltration service game whose launch in May 2021 was a severe failure. According to SteamDB stats, the game peaked at 11,536 players at launch, before declining to just 16 players over the past 24 hours as of this writing. The opinions of the players and the press remain very mixed to date.

Same observation for Spongebob Squarepants: Battle For Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated, a 3D adventure game aimed at a rather young audience. The game was received fairly timidly by critics, but should appeal to fans of the cartoon.

The real pearl happens to be Slay the Spirealready available in other subscription services and which is an excellent game mixing rogue like and deck building. Since its release in 2019, it has received many awards and we advise you to take a look.
