THE Plex media center has evolved over time. Released in 2008, it was originally software allowing play your multimedia contents even if they are on another device. For example, watch a movie on your TV while the file is on your computer. Over the years, the program has become much more than that. First, it turns into a complete video player thanks to the support for many formats. He then looks towards Netflix and others by offering free viewing of thousands of films or series. A real streaming platform.
Finally, and even if the experience ended in 2022, Plex tried to introduce you to video games. These are just the main features of the service which has others: recording, live TV channels… Not to mention the paid subscription which unlocks even more possibilities. As if that wasn’t enough, we learned that Plex is going to launch into the rental and purchase of films or series. A bit like what Amazon’s Prime Video offers for example.
Plex will review its design and allow you to rent series and films
This is not the first time that the project has been mentioned since Plex was already talking about it in 2020 and 2023. This time, it should land next month, in February 2024. Most studios would be involved and the catalog would be completed gradually. But this is not the only change to come since the software interface will experience “a fairly major refresh”.
