Sales of new cars in France recorded their lowest historical level in March 2022 with 147,079 registrations, according to figures published on Friday April 1 by the Automotive Platform. In the first quarter of the year, sales of new passenger cars reached 365,360 units, against 441,791 a year ago. In question ? Shortages of microchips and an economic context darkened by the war in Ukraine.
Over the January-March period, gasoline-electric and full-electric hybrid cars took first place in terms of engines with nearly 40% of new car registrations, compared to 38.3% for models with conventional gasoline engines.
In the top 10 best-selling plug-in hybrids, there is always a 100% French and 100% Stellantis podium. The best-selling model still remains the Peugeot 3008 compact SUV, already at the top of the rankings for 2021, followed by the Peugeot 308 and the Citroën C5 Aircross.
